Essential Marketing Tools: The Basics - part 1

Before I post this article, I've started to explain the online marketing business model but I realized that in order to start choosing an affiliate program and promoting their products and making the so expected sales, I've failed to lay down the necessary tools for the job and the proper setup to make that sale happen. My apologies.

Because this is a very important step, and I want you to grasp the essentials in a focused way (due to it's importance) I'll post it in various days.

So, let's get down to business...

The Basics
An Appropriate Domain Name

You all know the importance of a good domain name related to your business, not only because it describes to the visitor your niche but because it's very important to a good search engine positioning within your niche market.
It may be the difference between a first place or a million positions below.

Imagine that you sell auto parts and your domain name is www.johnsellall.com and your direct competition as a domain name like www.davidautoparts.com.
Wich one do you think that ranks better or shows up when someone types auto+parts in their browser? I'm sure you can see the difference...

It's not, by far, the only important thing when it comes to seo rankings but it sure helps a lot.
When choosing a domain name, be sure to have in mind your target market.

A Reliable Web Host

What do we consider a good, reliable web host? One that as good support and good
server uptime without many maintenance problems.
It's imperative that when a possible customer trys to reach you, they can.
There's a lot of hosting companies out there, some cheaper some more expensive, and some are indeed better than others, not because of the price but because of their relliability.
A good example is IPOWERWEB, STARTLOGIC, BLUEHOST and LUNARPAGES, just to name a few.
They are very good hosting companies and affordable to all.
Some even offers a free domain name with your package, wich is a very good deal.

These two basic tools are your control point. You need them to capture visitors, emails and to run your own promotions or to presell them some affiliate product or program or service that you are marketing at any given time.

You can surelly go for a free web hosting but I don't recommend it for 3 reasons: professional look that a www.yourdomain.com gives, for search engine ranks and control of your website.
It's important to have total control of it, and most of the free hosting won't give you that. Take into account that is an asset for your business like the front door of a physical brick and mortar business.
